Our ESG Approach:

At KNPL, we follow a triple bottom-line (3P: People, Planet and Profit) approach and judiciously manage the six capitals (Natural, Human, Financial, Manufactured, Intellectual and Social & Relationship) to achieve our strategic objectives. Additionally, as conscientious corporate stewards, we align our capitals with the pertinent United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)

Environmental
Reducing our Environmental Impact and Sourcing Sustainably

Materiality 1: Decarbonization

ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Where we are
  • ✔ 49% Energy from Renewables (Solar, Wind, Biofuels)
  • ✔ Utilized 38% of electricity from renewable sources
  • ✔ KNPL replaced 100% of grid power with renewable power in July, August and September for our Hosur factory in Tamil Nadu.

Future Direction
  • ✔ 70% Electricity (RE70) from Renewable source by 2030
  • ✔ Shift to greener and cleaner fuels from fossil fuels

EMISSION MANAGEMENT

Where we are
  • ✔ Targets Validated by SBTi to reduce (Scope 1,2,3) emissions in line with 1.5oC and setting up FY 2018-19 as baseline year.
  • ✔ Achieved 13% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions from baseline FY 2018-19
  • ✔ Accomplished 3% reduction in Scope 3 intensity from baseline 2018-2019

Future Direction
  • ✔ We are committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 46.2% by FY 2029-30 from a FY 2018-19 base year.
  • ✔ Minimizing Scope 3 intensity by 55% by FY 2029-30 from a FY 2018-19 base year.

CLIMATE CHANGE

Where we are
  • ✔ Conducted biannually, Board-level Risk Committee review
  • ✔ Adopted TCFD framework and evaluated various climate-related risks as per the framework
  • ✔ Integrated Climate risk with Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
  • ✔ Developed 33% greenbelt around our plant facilities

WATER

  • ✔ Usage of recycled water & rainwater (26% of total water consumption in FY23-24)

WASTE

  • ✔ Zero Liquid discharge (major manufacturing facilities)
